For the very first time, Queen Mary Malaysian Society presents “Uncovering the truth of the Past”, a talk by an important figure in Malaysia, Tun Hanif Omar.
Tun was born on 16th of January 1939. He was the Chief of Police of Malaysia and the longest serving Chief of Police. He served for 20 years during the crucial times of our history. He gave his service to our second Prime Minister, the late Tun Razak. He was also in duty during the most important chapters in our history which are during the state of the emergency due to communists attack and also during the racial riot in May 1969. Currently, Tun Hanif Omar is the Deputy Chairman of Genting Group, one of Asia’s leading and best-managed multinational corporation.
As an experienced and a non-political figure, Tun agreed to share his opinions and thoughts. He will be discussing issues ranging from history, law, democracy, unity and also nationalism.
Tun will be there to answer your doubts on the important events of our history from the day we achieved Independence, Communist attack, May 13, Konfrontasi, MAPHILINDO and all the way to Bersih 2.0.
As future leaders of Malaysia, we strongly encourage you to attend this talk as it will give you a clear understanding of the issues involving our past, present and future.
